World: Hello?
The Young: Hey Young World!
World: So, what is The Young exactly?
TY: It’s not an age, or a generation. The Young is a state of mind, a way of looking, driven by culture and defined by curiosity.
World: What makes The Young different from other creative studios?
TY: We believe in grounding our work in real-world connections, seeking insights through intimate engagement. We don’t just study the world; we live it, listen to it, and learn from it. We start with people, their culture and shifting perspectives, and work our way back to business. That’s how we uncover what truly matters and shape brands that feel authentic, meaningful, and connected to their surroundings and stay or become relevant, bold, and original.
World: How do you work as a team?
TY: Co-leadership is key:
Femke de Jonge and André Bouwman bring their unique perspectives to shape the studio’s direction, balancing vision and execution with equal parts intuition and strategy. Brains and guts. Our international team is a collective of thinkers and makers, bringing diverse experiences and voices to the table. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, so you can expect to be deeply involved in the process yourself.
World: Hang on, what exactly do you do?
TY: Our approach in a nutshell?
1. Delving deep into cultural & consumer research
2. Translating insight into clear, clever strategies.
3. Bringing strategic direction to life through storytelling and design.
RESEARCH & STRATEGY – It’s about understanding people, culture, and the shifts that shape them. We use those insights to guide brands to clarity, positioning, and long-term growth. Beyond trends, we uncover what is meaningful.
CREATIVE & STORYTELLING – We take strategy and turn it into stories, campaigns, and designs that aren’t just memorable, they’re striking. We build visual identities and narratives that speak to people as people, not consumers.
COLLABORATION & WORKSHOPS – This is where we get hands-on. We spark new ideas, refine strategies, and build alignment. For us, collaboration isn’t a buzzword. It is quite literally how we work.
World: Do you see yourselves as thought leaders?
TY: We are asking questions that challenge how things are done. Our publication, The Young Questions, digs into culture, creativity, and brands in a way that pushes the conversation forward. We’re not here to lead from the front. We’re thinkers and makers who believe in creating work that doesn’t just move brands but moves people.
World: Where do you see yourselves in all of this?
TY: We’re always a work in progress. Our work evolves because we do too. We’re not here to stick to what we know. We’re here to keep questioning, experimenting, and growing. Every project is a chance to learn, adapt, and improve. That constant evolution keeps us sharp, relevant, and in tune with the world as it changes.
World: So… what’s the bottom line for you?
TY: It’s simple: we want to create work that doesn’t just look good on paper; it changes something. It makes people think. It moves culture. We’re not in pursuit of the next big idea, or the next shift, but the next thing that feels real.
World: Where can we find you?
TY: Physically, on the top floor of Baan 74, 3011CD Rotterdam Netherlands.
